Big biccies, dough, dosh, coin, clams, bread, folding stuff, smackeroonies. Money has lots of fun nicknames and we often refer to it with a slang term. Perhaps one of the most common slang terms for money is moolah (or moola.) It has a great ring to it – say it out loud “moolah”.
That’s why we chose it as our name. We’re all about making borrowing money fast and hassle free, and while we carry out our duties as responsible lenders with due diligence, that doesn’t mean we take ourselves too seriously. ‘Moola’ is short, snappy and fun - it’s the perfect fit.
We’ve noticed a little bit of confusion over the spelling though. Some people spell it ‘Moolah’, some ‘Mula’. We’re the version with no ‘h’ on the end - Moola.
Some suggest the slang term for money - ‘moolah’ - comes from the Irish term ‘moll oir’ which means ‘a heap of gold’. However, this is unconfirmed so most dictionaries list the origin as unknown (probably why there’s no official spelling). It would seem it’s been around a while though; check out this Google Books graph - pretty popular in the early-mid 1800s.

However you spell it, if you need some moola (or moolah or mula) we’re here for you. Get your moolah from Moola!
